This blog will be about translation, translation as a thoughtful practice and as a practical thinking. Surely, I will be inspired by all the academic thinking on the subject, which we tend to gather together under the name of ‘translation studies’, in the English world, and ‘traductologie’ in the French-speaking universities. There is a considerable amount of papers and books about translation, seeing its subject in an organized and objective way. I will certainly take those works into account. But I will also be inspired by translations I read, mine or others, in order to comment them, and also by English texts, read in order to comment a possible translation of these texts. I won’t forget to draw the attention on forewords and introductions to translations, for there is much to know there about the different conceptions of language, textuality and translation. And our way of thinking translation is conditioned by the way we see literature and by our definitions of what language does with reality.
